Federal Pacific Lightning Fast Program Helps to Keep the Lights Shining on Florida’s Sunshine Skyway Bridge

by | Aug 11, 2020

Skyway Bridge

The Bob Graham Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Tampa Bay, Florida, which reaches between St. Petersburg and Terra Ceia, is one of the state’s most beautiful and recognizable landmarks. When illuminated, the twilight glow from the 4.14 mile cable-stayed rainbow overpass can be seen from miles around.

This phenomenal 430-feet high, four-lane feat of engineering is comprised almost entirely of concrete and steel and is lit by thousands of LED lights. Keeping power flowing to those lights takes the best expertise and the highest quality equipment. That’s why when the Florida Department of Transportation needed a new medium voltage transformer, our team was there. Federal Pacific’s engineers built a customized medium voltage transformer within two weeks of receiving the order as part of the company’s Lightning Fast Program.

Under the Lightning Fast Program, Federal Pacific can deliver engineered-to-order low and medium voltage transformers with significantly reduced lead time. In this case, Federal Pacific’s Lightning Fast Program helped to keep the lights shining on Florida’s Sunshine Skyway Bridge.
